10 October is World Mental Health Day.
The theme for World Mental Health Day 2022 is ‘Make mental health for all a global priority.’ We echo the theme of #WMHD2022 as well.
Here are seven mindfulness tips to help cultivate greater consciousness in your daily routines. We hope this helps! If you’d like to learn more about SIP Academy’s mindfulness-based courses, drop us a note at academy@socialinnovationpark.org.

1. Take deep breaths When you are feeling anxious about an upcoming paper or test, taking deep breaths helps to slow down the mind and heart rate and will help you calm down so that you can focus on the task at hand.
2. Maintain a gratitude journal Keeping a gratitude journal can cut through the negativity and remind you of the good things that are going on in your lives. By just taking a few minutes each day to write down what you are grateful for, you can pull yourself back into the present moment.
3. Do one thing at a time You can be mindful of your work by prioritizing tasks and putting your full attention on one thing at a time.
4. Pay attention to nature When you walk to your school/ home, you are likely thinking about your work/studies or other things. By paying attention to the greenery, you can enjoy the moment you are in, rather than worrying about what you need to do next.
5. Visualize You should use the visualization exercise in your daily life by seeing yourself acing a test, getting a good grade on a paper.
6. Mindful Eating Enjoy the different colours, taste and texture of food. Recognize and appreciate the different tastes in your mouth. Practice eating food in the absence of gadgets.
7. Mindful Listening Pay complete attention to what your teachers, parents, siblings and friends say without judgement, criticism and interruptions, while being aware of your internal thoughts and reactions.
