We’re happy and honoured to host the World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders in Singapore on 21 November 2017, together with Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, for our programme on “Innovation in Social Policies”.
The day’s programme brought them through the ins and outs, ups and downs of building an inclusive town like Punggol 21. They also got to immerse in Uniquely Singapore culture, eating breakfast at our foodcourt Koufu and visiting a HDB flat.
The highlight of the day was when they walked blindfolded to their lunch destination at our SEED Container Park and had a “Dine in the Dark” experience at our restaurants! It was a first for most of them and many proclaimed this a unique, meaningful and enlightening experience – from “This was truly humbling.” to “I had no idea what I was eating, it is freaky.” Their experience was deepened by sharing with each other about how they felt, and hearing from one of our visually impaired friends, Dr Yeo Sze Ling, share about her life – “Imagine spending your entire life like how you experienced the last hour.”
They ended the day acting as town councillors to fire-pitch for their inclusive town ideas. It was certainly a fruitful day learning from one another and we’re thankful for the opportunity. We hope to see you back soon!
